(Vienna, March 12, 2024) – The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is constantly adapting its TransNET to the needs of its customers and the latest market requirements. As of now there are some changes on the TransFER connections to and from Italy. With these expansions to the network via the Brenner Pass, RCG is actively promoting a modal shift to sustainable rail transport along the Brenner axis and thus helping to relieve transit traffic in Tyrol.
Direct connection between Northern Italy and the DUSS Terminal in Göttingen
With the TransFER Verona–Göttingen, RCG is establishing a direct connection for continental flows of goods between Northern Italy and the DUSS Terminal Göttingen in Lower Saxony with four round trips per week. RCG reliably and efficiently transports containers between 20 and 45 feet as well as cranable trailers on this connection.
New: TransFER Padua–Hannover
With the TransFER Padua–Hannover, there is now an efficient transport solution with four round trips per week between Northern Italy and Germany with a direct connection to the Hannover-Leinetor rail terminal. There are plans to increase the frequency to six round trips per week. Containers and swap bodies between 20 and 45 feet can be transported.
Increase in round trips: TransFER Verona–Wuppertal
The non-stop connection for continental flows of goods, linking important economic regions in Italy and Germany, is now operating six round trips per week instead of four. RCG uses this TransFER to transport containers and swap bodies between 20 and 45 feet as well as cranable trailers. RCG’s TransNET offers an overview of all TransFER connections and combinations to and from all ports, business and industrial centres.
TransFER – the connection
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group transports goods across the whole Eurasian continent with around 60 TransFER connections, more than 1,500 TransFER combinations and many customisable routes. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads and intermodal transport through to complete customisable solutions. Additional freight services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics and customs services can be booked according to the place of departure and the destination. The RCG takes care of all the details – from the first to the last mile.
