From Villach: Rail Cargo Group is offering to two new destinations in Italy

Vienna, 19.4.2023 - ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its comprehensive network (TransNET) and adding the destinations Treviso and Frosinone to the TransFER Villach–Italy. With this, the ÖBB freight subsidiary provides a comprehensive transport offer for conventional rail transport to and from Italy.

Services between Villach and Treviso will run one round trip per week. Treviso is a major transhipment point for goods and the hub of goods traffic between northern and southern Europe. In contrast, Frosinone – an important railway junction in the Lazio region – will be operated on request. From here, goods trains will be able to travel between different regions of Italy and to other European countries.

Wagonload traffic for the whole of Italy

Working in tandem with the local logistics centres, RCG is offering integrated transport and warehouse logistics, including end distribution, throughout Italy. Customers benefit from comprehensive logistics solutions that cover the entire supply chain, as well as several weekly departures between Villach and ten destinations around Italy. This way, RCG can provide end-to-end logistics solutions – including the organisation of first and last mile, conventional wagonload and container transport, as well as additional forwarding services such as transhipment facilities, warehouse logistics and customs services – all from a single source.

TransFER – the connection
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group transports goods across the whole Eurasian continent with around 60 TransFER connections, more than 700 TransFER combinations and many customisable routes. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads and intermodal transport through to complete customisable solutions. Additional freight services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics and customs services can be booked according to the place of departure and the destination.
