This press release has:
Vienna, 13.4.2023 – The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its extensive TransNET network and is now offering fast, reliable transport solutions between Hungary and the northern Adriatic. The port at Rijeka (Croatia) is an important transloading point for Southern, Central and Southeastern Europe. The new TransFER Budapest–Rijeka means RCG has created a direct network connection without stops for its customers, alongside several block train solutions, for maritime flows of goods between Budapest and Rijeka. The new connection is efficient and reliable, with a fixed scheduled timetable and attractive transit times.
Two round trips per week
The TransFER is particularly suitable for 20 and 40 foot containers. It takes two round trips per week between the BILK terminal in Budapest and the terminal in the port of Rijeka. From the BILK terminal, there are antenna connections to other destinations in Western Europe such as Neuss, Vienna, Wels or Ludwigshafen.
Closer to customers
RCG opened its own office in the port of Rijeka at the beginning of the year. The quantities of container transports both to and from the port of Rijeka have increased considerably. With an own office on site, these can be processed quicker from a single source. The site in Rijeka provides customers with port agency services for both imports and exports, customs clearance for imports, exports and transit registration, port operations and disposition, truck transport to and from Rijeka, preparation of consignment notes (CIM, CMR) as well as other services available on request.
TransNET – the network
Available in 13 languages with an intuitive user interface, TransNET, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group’s new digital map, sets new standards in the European freight transport market. Users have three options to find their desired connection: They can choose from three possibilities: they can select “Go” and “Thanks” to choose the starting point and destination for their goods, they can find their connection using our well-arranged list view, or simply click on a location on our map. This opens up a world of possibilities, with TransFER connections and combinations that they can link up to best meet their needs. After selecting the relevant route, it is displayed on the map and shows which services are offered at the selected locations.
TransFER – the connection
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group transports goods across the whole Eurasian continent with around 60 TransFER connections, more than 700 TransFER combinations and many customisable routes. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads and intermodal transport through to complete customisable solutions. Additional freight services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics and customs services can be booked according to the place of departure and the destination. The RCG takes care of all the details – from the first to the last mile.
